Success Story - Jake

Jake is an 8 year old staffy/boxer cross who disappeared from his home one evening.  His owners signed him up with Inspector Spot 24 hours later, and Spot’s search team immediately swung into action: emailing personalised lost posters to the owners, posting Jake’s details on their website, and sending out a Lost Pet Alert to followers, local vets and animal organisations.

This Alert was picked up by and re-sent by Vodafone, where a member of Jake’s family works, reaching an estimated 36,000 people over 48 hours.

Two days after Jake was registered with Inspector Spot, he was located and returned, a bit bruised and battered after his three day misadventure but very happy to be home.

Jake's story is interesting as he was contained in a fully fenced section the day he disappeared.  But, he got a fright during a lightening storm and managed to scale the fence and escape.  This highlights the need to bring pets inside during storms, as regardless of how high or how secure your fences are pets can get over them if they're really scared.  Jake's owners have now secured their fences and so far he's been safely contained since his little excursion.

1 in 3 pets go missing.  Inspector Spot finds them.  If your pets are not registered with him, visit www.inspectorspot.co.nz
